Other Volunteer Opportunities
This spring, the Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council (SSISC) is launching a European Green Crab monitoring program for Howe Sound. They need volunteers to help them out!
European Green Crabs have recently been found in Boundary Bay (just south of Vancouver) and on Salt Spring Island (near the entrance of Howe Sound). There's concern that this aggressive invasive crab may be spreading further into Howe Sound and the Squamish River Estuary.
From May-September, Crab Team volunteers will help set multiple crab traps at pre-determined sites near Squamish, and then return 24 hours later to collect & record data.
Gain experience in the field, have fun outdoors in the mud, and help to protect Howe Sound’s biodiversity.
Visit www.ssisc.ca/crabteam for more details and to sign up!
